Statistically more Americans die from heart disease every year than they do from cancer. It is the number one killer disease in North America and in many European countries. According to the American Heart Association, nearly 2,500 Americans die of various forms of cardiovascular disease each day, an average of one death every 35 seconds.
Although thse largely prventable conditions are more common among people aged 65 or oler, the number of sudden deaths from heart disease among people aged 15-34 has increased. Though it is a commmon and costly health problem it is also highly preventable. Adopting healthy behaviors such as avioiding tobacco use, living physically active, reducing stress levels, and improving dietary habits can substantially reduce risk of the disease.
Now scientists and health experts are pointing to chocolate as a surprising source of support for the heart, and studies show it can protect the cardiovascular system in various ways.
